Another Year of Cafe Drake

Granted 2009 has not been the best year ever, and when unemployed and restless, oftentimes a celebration with good friends is the best medicine. Evidence of the efficacy of said cure can be found above in a few photos from our recent birthday celebration. The generosity of our crew yielded many thoughtful gifts and an absolute largess of bubbles (and red, white and rose wines as well). Guests were fed from an Indian buffet table whipped up in the Cafe Drake kitchens overnight: fiery pork vindaloo, urad dhal, spinach curry, cabbage with brown mustard seeds and dried chiles, spicy potato chips, raita, garlic and lime pickles, homemade date chutney, pineapple salad and a basmati pilaf.
