Saturday in Sunset Park
Cafe Drake spent an overcast, gray Saturday with Susan and Henry and Sloane and Miette of Sunset Park, Brooklyn enjoying delicious (and ultra-cheap) Vietnamese hero sandwiches (one of pate, one of meatballs, both dressed with homemade pickles, hot chiles and an abundance of cilantro and mayo) from 8th Avenue's Ba Xuyen (corner of 43rd St.) alongside greasy but satisfying pork spring rolls and an unusual salad of thick rice noodles, mint, fried shallots and thinly sliced pork. All this can be yours for under a tenner!
A stroll through the neighborhood's titular outdoor expanse of green finally woke up a drowsy Sloane, and Cafe Drake finished the afternoon shooting photos of Susan's lovely, felt-sculpted necklaces (available for purchase NOW at Susan's online store ).
