Warm Weather Holidays

Cafe Drake spent much of the 2012 holiday season in Atlanta, where warmer temps necessitated a/c on Christmas Eve and gray December skies give up rain only. During a short-lived cold spell we were able to light up a few flames and enjoy a pot of fondue fireside and the unseasonal weather did little to deter Cafe D. or our mother from a round of festive meals at Floataway Cafe, Bourbon St. Bistro (in the charming mountain town of Dahlonega, GA), Nam Phoung (a Vietnamese mega-restaurant with a subtle take on the cuisine's greatest hits), Houston's (NW Atlanta institution) and Swapna (truly tasty blend of Northern and Southern Indian foods). Dinners at home were equally amazing - tuna steaks and fresh tomatillo sauce, Cornish hens with curry butter, Mother's homemade yeast rolls and cranberry crumble, chicken and lemon/kumquat tagine and more.
