Our First Garden Update of 2014
Note: With a heavy heart we must report all photos below were snapped earlier in the week, prior to a recent unexpected winter storm and deep freeze, an anomaly even in this northern clime. Most of our young seedlings, newbie sprouts and budding flowers were destroyed by the sleet and snow.
Wild onions are found in many yards, forests and open fields. Both the tiny bulbs and greens are edible treats. More info can be found here. |
A happy surprise is the Spring return of our potted French tarragon plants! |
Garlic is always early to the garden party. Once these shoots have developed tender garlic scapes we'll harvest and use the prime real estate for late-summer crops. |
The first daffodils of the season. |
Purple crocus arrive just in time for Easter. |
