The Peonies Are In Bloom Again. Happy Days!

Peony Season kicked off at Cafe Drake HRV this year with gifts from Kristin's garden.

K. also brought us a sample of this unusual plum wine iris.

And a sweet bird of summer.

The largest and most prolific of the peony bushes, this beauty was nursed back to health after wet rot and mildew during 2013's drenching summer.

Flowering vines not only add baroque interest to the front porch, they also make lovely small single specimen arrangements.

The darkest of the peonies grow admirably on the northern exposure of the garden.
